Explore Sailing, Snorkeling or Scuba Diving

With 64 miles of coastline, the British territory of Bermuda attracts visitors seeking adventure travel from all over the world. Between snorkeling and scuba diving in its calm waters and golfing at one of the first class resorts, Bermuda vacations are a popular way to escape the hustle of everyday life and relax in the islands. While Bermuda is often thought to be part of the Caribbean, it’s actually located 640 miles east of South Carolina yet still enjoys a subtropical climate.

Formed by a group of volcanoes in the Atlantic Ocean, Bermuda consists of 181 islands with eight of the largest islands connected via bridges. Despite a land area of just over 20 square miles, the list of what to see in Bermuda is impressive. Take a bicycle ride or stroll along the Railway Trail, which served trains until 1948 and then stood abandoned until being converted into a pedestrian and bicycle trail in the 1980s. Running nearly the entire length of the main island of Bermuda, the Railway Trail is a great way to see the island and start your adventure vacation.

Of course, Bermuda travel is not complete without spending some time on or in the water. Explore the Bermuda Triangle’s more than 300 shipwrecks on a scuba or snorkeling tour where you may spot an array of sea life among the coral reefs, like barracudas, parrotfish and spiny lobster. For those who prefer to stay above the water, you can add a kayak excursion or try stand up paddle boarding to your adventure travel agenda.

There are plenty of active adventures to be found on dry land as well, particularly at the Bermuda hotels and resorts. Visit Elbow Beach to go horseback riding in the sand or practice your golf swing at the Mid Ocean Club’s beautiful coastal course.
